Welcome to the last new moon lunation of 2025. This is a New Moon in Sagittarius occurring this Friday on Dec 19th, 5:43 pm pst which essentially asks you to look honestly at what you are building next, and whether you are willing to stand behind it once the excitement fades and the work begins. I also want to acknowledge how tiring that may sound, given the current heavy transits, especially with that recent Mars square Neptune shaking up the collective with a surge unnecessary conflict and clashes due to bad actors acting on their extreme ideological beliefs.
…If that is you feeling a weariness when looking at the world, I’m sending you a big hug. I know it’s been existentially tough. Please hang in there.
This moon will also be at an anaretic degree, so it’s a late Sagittarius. There is maturity here. 28° is weighty because your vision for the future will demand follow through from you. Beliefs that can survive effort, doubt, and time. It will be powerful for those willing to roll our sleeves up, and let our efforts, action match this vision we’re materializing into reality.
One of the many misconceptions people say about Sagittarius is that it’s too optimistic, naive. A pollyanna which can be annoying for people that have heavier Virgo, Taurus Capricorn, or Scorpio placements in their chart.
Sagittarius chooses optimism not because it is naive. Especially now I think talking about the purpose of optimism is more pertinent than ever. There is a shared feeling many of us are carrying quietly in our bodies and bones when it comes to this decade so far:
“I cannot unsee what I have seen.”
Just looking at geopolitical spats around the world, natural disasters, and senseless mass shootings can send someone’s head and nervous system spinning. And once you reach that point, you cannot go back to the old story without feeling the lie in it.
Sagittarius is the sign that studies history, myth, religion, philosophy, and human behavior across time. This has a crossover with Aquarius, but the difference is Sagittarius tends to participate and test it’s philosophical findings by living on the edge of life to test life’s biggest theoretical truths. It looks at civilizations rising and collapsing. It watches belief systems fail, get rewritten, fail again. It sees how often humanity repeats itself.
And still, it keeps asking the same question: What makes life worth continuing anyway???
Sagittarius believes in humanity not because the record is clean, but because it understands the stakes of losing belief altogether. It knows that cynicism is easy. Withdrawal is easy. Giving up on meaning is easy.
What is difficult is choosing to stay engaged with life after disillusionment has already set in. This is the kind of optimism that comes after innocence has died. Sagittarius embodies this.

There is a moment Sagittarius reaches, especially in its later degrees, where it has seen enough to know that the old stories no longer work. The simple Teletubbies like world illusion of how simple, happy, free we are collapses. The idea that goodness is always rewarded dissolves. The belief that progress is linear falls apart. And yet, something else emerges in its place.
Meaning is not created out of thin air. Sagittarius chooses it again and again. Maintains it. Defends it. Tests it out by living it out loud in life.
This is why Sagittarian faith is not fragile. It is not dependent on things working out perfectly or people behaving well. It is faith in the act of orienting oneself toward something larger than fear, even when the evidence is mixed. Especially when the evidence is mixed.
That quiet realization is what many of us are carrying right now. Positive belief, even imperfect belief, keeps the future open. Because choosing to stand for something larger than immediate disappointment is how civilizations rebuild themselves after collapse.
This New Moon does not ask you to forget what you have seen and experienced. You will have you make a decision on whether you want to abandon faith in your dreams entirely, or choose a creative way forward that can survive the current reality that is ever changing.

What makes this New Moon especially potent is its proximity to the Galactic Center of our Milky Way. The Galactic Center sits around 27 degrees of Sagittarius, and with this lunation occurring at 28°24’, it falls well within its field. Any planet within a few degrees of this point is considered activated by it, and this New Moon is very much plugged into that current.
Many astrologers associate this place in the Milky Way with the doorway to amplified insight, truth that cuts through noise, and an awareness of the larger arc we are living inside. It has a way of pulling us out of personal drama and placing our lives into a much wider context.
Under this New Moon, it may feel easier to observe your life from a higher altitude. To see the patterns, the repetitions, and the stories you have been living by, and to recognize which of them no longer match who you are becoming.
This moon is also forming a square to Neptune and Saturn which is making it’s last rounds in Pisces before moving fully into it’s new cycle in Aries come Feb of 2026.
On paper, Sagittarius and Pisces want the same thing. Meaning. Freedom. Faith. A life that feels aligned with something larger than survival or obligation. But their methods could not be more different, and this is where the tension lives.
Sagittarius wants orientation. A belief system that points somewhere. A philosophy that can be articulated, taught, defended, and lived by. It wants a horizon, a trajectory, a sense that if you keep walking in this direction, you will arrive somewhere that makes sense.
Pisces does not trust straight lines. Pisces dissolves boundaries, complicates certainty, and asks you to feel your way forward rather than declaring the destination too soon. Pisces understands that meaning is not always immediate or clean, and that some truths reveal themselves only through patience, vulnerability, and time.
You can feel this tension internally right now. A split between conviction and doubt. Between wanting to believe in something wholeheartedly and being acutely aware of all the reasons certainty feels fragile. Many of us want to run full speed toward a big vision, to commit, to decide, to move. But the fog of Saturn and Neptune in Pisces is unrelenting. Whether we like it or not, this ambiguity is still part of the process, and it cannot be bypassed.
Adding to this, Mercury in Sagittarius is also active, and Mercury here struggles with nuance. Thinking can become broad, opinionated, or rigid. Conversations may feel blunt. Beliefs about the world, about people, about what is possible can harden quickly. This can create frustration, especially if you notice yourself bumping up against fixed ideas that quietly shape how you imagine your future. Your belief in yourself may also be stress tested against other people’s perspectives during this cycle. Opinions may intrude. Doubt may arrive from the outside. Part of the work here is learning how to hold your intention steady anyway, without needing consensus or reassurance.
All of this together creates a New Moon that carries more weight than most Sagittarius lunations.
The best way forward is to believe in a long term vision while accepting that detours and recalibrations are inevitable. The sooner you accept that you’re staying in motion even when the path is not fully visible yet, the better off you’ll be.

I intentionally timed my next upcoming live astrology workshop (Astrology of 2026!) on this Sagittarius New Moon on Friday.
Sagittarius New Moon To-Do’s & Tips
-
Decide on 1 belief that you are ready to stand behind in 2026. Ask yourself what belief could actually survive fatigue, doubt, and other people disagreeing with you. Write it in plain language. If it requires you to perform forced false optimism, it is not ready yet.
-
Audit where your vision is outrunning your capacity. Where are you dreaming beyond what your current energy, resources, or emotional bandwidth can hold. Check in with the vision to something you can confidently get behind, stretching you (without discouraging you in disbelief) and can sustain.
-
Ask yourself what narrative you keep returning to when things get hard. The victim story. The late bloomer story. The lone wolf story. The misunderstood one. Choose one you are willing to retire.
-
With Saturn and Neptune in Pisces still active, clarity will not arrive on demand. Practice staying with questions longer than usual. If you feel pressure to decide prematurely, pause. Ask what you are trying to control or avoid.

Aries Rising
→ 9th House: belief systems, worldview, faith, education, publishing, travel, long range vision
This New Moon asks you to look honestly at what you believe about your own potential. Not what you say you believe, but what your choices actually reflect. With Saturn and Neptune completing their long journey through your 12th house, this lunation illuminates the final layers of unconscious conditioning you have been carrying quietly for years. You may notice a subtle tension between the version of life you want to move toward and the quieter voice that says you should stay small, stay safe, or stay invisible. You’ll realize this new moon that this voice was your fear all along talking, not your intuition.
You may feel called toward learning, teaching, publishing, traveling, or reshaping your spiritual beliefs in a way that feels more honest and embodied. At the same time, the fog of Saturn and Neptune reminds you that faith now must be earned internally. You are being asked to release the last self limiting beliefs before Saturn and Neptune cross your Ascendant in 2026 and demand radical self honesty. If doubt surfaces, do not fight it. Listen to what it is revealing. The path forward opens not when you silence fear, but when you outgrow the beliefs that created it in the first place.
Taurus Rising
→ 8th House: shared resources, trust, intimacy, vulnerability, power dynamics, emotional and financial entanglements
Under this New Moon, questions of emotional and financial interdependence come to the surface quietly but insistently. You may find yourself reflecting on how much you truly trust the people you are tied to, and where you have learned to protect yourself by withholding. This can show up through money matters, shared expenses, debts, inheritances, or long standing agreements. It can also appear emotionally, through intimacy, vulnerability, and the subtle power dynamics that exist inside close relationships.
With Saturn and Neptune in Pisces activating your 11th house, this New Moon asks you to look at how past disappointments in friendships or communities may have shaped your willingness to depend on others now. If you have been betrayed, overlooked, or emotionally unsupported before, it makes sense that you learned to be self sufficient. But self sufficiency, when taken too far, can quietly turn into isolation. This lunation gently exposes where that pattern may be limiting your access to support, collaboration, or shared growth.
Gemini Rising
→ 7th House: partnerships, commitments, contracts, mirrors, relational dynamics
For Gemini rising, this New Moon activates your 7th house, turning your attention toward relationships as sites of meaning and growth. Partners, clients, collaborators, close friends, and even perceived rivals can become mirrors under this lunation. You may feel pulled in multiple directions as expectations from others become louder. With Saturn and Neptune in Pisces still reshaping your tenth house, there is pressure around visibility, responsibility, and long term direction in your public life. The tension here is real. You are being asked to clarify how much of yourself belongs to your work, your ambitions, and your evolving sense of purpose, and how much can realistically be given to relationships without resentment creeping in.
This New Moon invites you to look more honestly at the agreements you have made, both spoken and unspoken. You may see more clearly what certain relationships are actually built on and whether they can support the direction you are moving toward. If a new partnership begins under this New Moon, be explicit about boundaries and expectations. If an existing one feels strained, notice what is being avoided.
Cancer Rising
6th House: daily rhythms, work, health, energy management, service, systems
This lunation asks you to look closely at the systems you rely on to hold your life together. Your work schedule. Your boundaries around labor. Your relationship to rest. Your physical body as an instrument that needs care. You may become acutely aware of where your current routines are no longer sustainable, even if they once worked well for you. This time will highlight areas of your routine and health that needs a major adjustment.
With Saturn and Neptune in Pisces activating your 9th house, there is a larger vision pulling at you. A desire to expand your worldview, your education, your sense of purpose, or your future direction. But that expansion cannot happen if your daily life is draining you. This New Moon reveals the gap between the life you are trying to build and the habits that either support or sabotage that effort. The work here is to bridge that gap gently and honestly. You may feel motivated to clean things up. To create more structure. To implement systems that give you breathing room instead of taking it away. At the same time, Jupiter retrograde in Cancer means your emotional and physical limits matter more than usual. Your nervous system has a voice right now. If your body is tired, it is telling you something important about what needs to change.
Leo Rising
→ 5th House: creativity, joy, self expression, romance, pleasure, visibility
This New Moon lights up your 5th house, the part of the chart that remembers who you are when you are not performing for approval or managing other people’s expectations. This is about joy that is self generated. And yet, this is not a carefree New Moon in the way the fifth house is sometimes portrayed. There is friction here. Saturn and Neptune in Pisces are activating your eighth house, stirring old emotional entanglements, power dynamics, and vulnerabilities that can quietly inhibit your willingness to be seen fully. You may feel an urge to create, to flirt with life again, to take risks with your voice or your art, and then feel an unexpected tightening. A hesitation. A sense that something could be lost if you let yourself enjoy this too much.
This tension is here because it’s revealing where joy has become conditional for you. You may hesitate to express yourself fully because someone else’s emotions once took precedence over your own. This period of time will have you noticing that. Sagittarius in your 5th house wants you to believe in your own creative fire again. The kind of confidence that comes from enjoying your own existence, not from being validated for it. Ultimately, this is a moon to let yourself be moved by what you love, even if it feels vulnerable to admit that it still matters to you.
Virgo Rising
4th House: home, roots, emotional foundations, family patterns, inner safety
For Virgo rising, this New Moon settles into your 4th house, where you may find yourself reflecting on family dynamics, your relationship to home, or the emotional roles you learned early in life. This could be literal, through interactions with family or changes in your living space, or symbolic, through an awareness of how much you still operate from old conditioning. The fourth house is where habits are formed long before we are conscious of them, and this New Moon gently exposes which ones are still running the show.
With Saturn and Neptune in Pisces activating your 7th house, there is a clear link between your inner world and how you show up in relationships. The way you learned to keep the peace, manage others’ emotions, or stay useful may still shape your partnerships more than you realize. You may notice moments where you default to over responsibility or quiet self containment, even when part of you wants to ask for more or simply be held. This New Moon invites you to tend to your inner home so that what you create next comes from nourishment rather than survival.
Libra Rising
→ 3rd House: mindset, communication, learning, schedules, siblings and close community
For Libra rising, this New Moon moves through your 3rd house, shifting the focus to how you think, speak, plan, and move through your immediate world. You may notice a surge of ideas, plans, invitations, and mental stimulation under this lunation. Sagittarius here wants perspective. It wants to zoom out and make sense of what you have been learning this year. But Saturn and Neptune in Pisces are still activating your sixth house, which means your energy, health, and workload are already under pressure. This can create a feeling of being mentally busy while physically tired. The mind wants to run ahead, while the body asks for pacing.
This New Moon invites you to become more intentional with your attention. Not every thought deserves airtime. Not every conversation needs to be had right now. You may be asked to refine how you communicate, especially if you have been explaining yourself too much or carrying mental responsibility for keeping everyone else informed, calm, or aligned. Clarity does not require constant output. This New Moon is the mental clearing before that shift. Pay attention to what you are telling yourself daily. The way you frame your life now becomes the foundation you stand on next.
Scorpio Rising
2nd House: self worth, money, values, resources, stability, what you rely on
For Scorpio rising, this New Moon activates your 2nd house, where you may already be thinking more seriously about money, resources, or long term stability. Sagittarius here wants to expand your sense of possibility around earning, resourcing yourself, and building something that lasts. At the same time, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces are activating your fifth house, touching creativity, joy, desire, and vulnerability. You may have find balance with wanting to enjoy life fully and feeling the weight of responsibility pressing in.
This New Moon asks you to examine where your sense of security is coming from. Are you relying on external validation, future promises, or bursts of intensity to feel stable. Or are you building something quieter, steadier, and more sustainable. Jupiter retrograde in Cancer suggests that your emotional relationship to money and self worth is under review. Old family beliefs, inherited fears, or survival strategies may be influencing how you price yourself, what you allow yourself to receive, or how safe you feel expanding. But for now, this lunation is about anchoring yourself in what you genuinely value and letting that guide your choices. When your sense of worth is rooted internally, expansion feels more steady and well received.
Sagittarius Rising
→ 1st House: identity, self direction, visibility, personal truth, how you show up
For Sagittarius rising, this New Moon lands in your 1st house which becomes a massive reset of how you understand yourself, your direction, and the story you are telling about who you are becoming. This New Moon asks you to meet yourself honestly, without embellishment and without self judgment. Who are you now, after everything this year has stripped away. What parts of your identity still feel alive and true, and which ones are starting to feel like costumes you learned how to wear to survive certain chapters. With the Galactic Center activated in your sign, there is a sense that you are seeing yourself from a wider vantage point. Not just who you have been, but the longer arc of who you are here to become.
At the same time, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces are activating your 4th house, stirring old emotional conditioning, family dynamics, and inherited expectations. This can create an internal push pull. One part of you wants to step forward, take up space, and claim a new version of yourself. Another part feels tethered to the past. To roles you learned early. To emotional responsibilities that quietly shaped how safe it felt to be fully seen. This New Moon is not asking you to reject your roots. It is asking you to notice where they still define you more than they need to. You may become aware of how much of your self image has been shaped by what others needed you to be, or by what felt emotionally acceptable at the time. That awareness can feel tender, but it is also liberating.
Capricorn Rising
→ 12th House: endings, subconscious patterns, rest, spiritual hygiene, behind the scenes recalibration
For Capricorn rising, this New Moon moves through your 12th house, a place that does not respond well to force or visibility. This is a quiet lunation for you. One that works beneath the surface, rearranging things internally before anything changes outwardly. If you feel less motivated to push, explain, or perform right now, there is a deliberate reason for that. Under this New Moon, you may feel more reflective, more sensitive, or more aware of the subtle emotional and energetic undercurrents shaping your life. Memories can surface. Old patterns may make themselves known without asking for analysis.
Saturn and Neptune in Pisces are also activating your 3rd house, which means your mind may feel busy even as your body asks for withdrawal. You might notice mental loops, worries, or conversations replaying in your head, especially around obligations, expectations, or things left unsaid. This New Moon invites you to soften your grip on needing mental resolution. Not everything needs to be processed right now. Ultimately, this New Moon is clearing space so that when you step forward again, you are not dragging old fatigue or outdated identities with you.
Aquarius Rising
→ 11th House: friendships, community, networks, collaboration, long range vision, future hopes
For Aquarius rising, this New Moon activates your 11th house, the part of the chart that holds your relationship to the future. You may feel more socially engaged than usual, or at least more aware of where you stand within your networks. Invitations, conversations, and group dynamics can take on added meaning now. Sagittarius here wants alignment. It wants to know whether the communities you are part of actually support the direction you are moving toward, or whether they are holding you in an outdated version of yourself.
At the same time, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces are activating your 2nd house, bringing questions of self worth, resources, and sustainability to the surface. This creates an important tension. You may notice where you are giving more than you receive, financially, emotionally, or energetically, in order to maintain belonging. Or where you have been undervaluing your contributions to keep the peace. This New Moon asks you to look honestly at the cost of certain connections, without villainizing anyone involved. When your future vision is aligned with your values and your capacity, collaboration becomes nourishing rather than draining.
Pisces Rising
→ 10th House: career, visibility, reputation, leadership, life direction
For Pisces rising, this New Moon activates your 10th house, bringing your public life into sharper focus. This is about how you are seen, what you are known for, and the role you are being asked to step into next. You may already feel the pressure building here. Saturn and Neptune have been moving through your first house, reshaping your identity from the inside out. Old versions of you have been dissolving. Boundaries have been tested. Confidence has had to be rebuilt more slowly than you might like. Now, this New Moon asks how that internal work translates outward. How does the person you are becoming want to move through the world.
Sagittarius in your 10th house wants expansion and recognition, but not hollow success. It wants meaning behind ambition. You may feel pulled toward bigger goals, greater visibility, or a more honest expression of your vocation. At the same time, there can be tension between wanting to show up fully and feeling stretched thin. You may feel like you are carrying a lot right now, personally and professionally, and that needs to be acknowledged.
